Moving In

We are officially moved in to our new home.  We moved in on 1/2/09 and spent our first night there, but there were only 3 of us, Baba, me and Ashlyn.  We got to my aunt’s home too late after dinner with friends.  So, the official “official moved in” date as a family should be 1/3/09.  We haven’t bought the TV’s yet, so we had limited entertainment, but it didn’t bother Ashlyn & Alex at all.  They had their toys from X’mas to keep them busy.

Insurance Shopping

I believe most people were affected by the economic down turn, especially the performances of the 401K.  I would say, almost everybody was caught by surprised.  Although situation like that was not predictable, but we should still plan ahead.  Maybe we should start looking into term life insurance.  It is now much easier to find affordable and low cost insurance online, and get term life insurance quote comparison at a glance.

Welcome 2009!

It is now 12 mid-night.  Bye bye 2008 and HI to 2009.

Wishing you all a great 2009.

Happy Holidays 2008

It’s Christmas Eve, and I have finished my Christmas shopping just a few hours ago. This year, most of my cousins are away, so, the shopping list has slimmed down quite a bit.

We are not going to bake turkey or ham this year. Instead, just like Thanksgiving, we are going to have hotpot, at our new house. Perfect for this chilly cold weather.

To all of you, Merry Christmas!

New Year’s Resolution

Remember many years ago, spent the New Year’s Eve with a few friends for dinner. Obviously, we had good food and wine. Just before we began to count down to the New Year, and the clock struck twelve, someone suggested to share our New Year’s resolutions. I couldn’t think of any, but a few of the lady friends had the same resolutions - to be successfully shed off a few pounds. I hope they were successful doing that, if not, I hope Leptovox can help them a bit in this coming year.

School Pictures

For the past 2 years, ever since we enrolled Ashlyn and Alex in the childcare center, we were not able to get Ashlyn to the school pictures, alone. Just like any other school, this childcare center arranged professional people to come to take pictures for the class, individual, and siblings two times a year. We didn’t have any problem with getting Alex to take pictures at all. With Ashlyn, she always refused to take the individual picture. We failed two times already. This year, the third time around, Ashlyn was willing to take the individual pictures. When she came home to tell me that, I was in doubt, didn’t think the picture would turn out good. She probably didn’t smile, maybe she just stared at the camera without expression. To my surprise, pictures for both Ashlyn and Alex turned out very very good. Check them out!

Good Food Aftermath

The Holidays is upon us. I can smell the turkey and honey glazed ham already. Come to think of it, there will be quite a bit of feast from now through February of next year. Let’s count. Christmas is just around the corner, we already planned hot pot with in-laws and family at our new home. No no, it’s not housewarming yet. Then, dear hubby’s birthday, he wanted Japanese grill Salmon head. Probably not much going on with the New Year, but the Chinese New Year will be coming very soon. During the Chinese New Year, there will be a few birthday dinners. I’m glad we are in the process of packing, moving, and unpacking. Without these exercises, I will probably get help from the diet pills.

Latest Masterpieces

I have not posted any drawings or writings by Ashlyn for a long time. Last night, at dinner table, she drew quite a bit. As she was explaining the drawings to me, I was quite surprised with her explanations.

Cats, and there were 6 of them.

According to Ashlyn, this one was requested by Alex. She said, Alex asked her to draw a picture of him, like a pirate.

This one was amazing. Wiggly lines and circles. Can you guess what these were? Scroll down to get the answer.

Live Stock Supply

When people mentioned cattle supplies, what would come to your mind? Clippers? Grooming shampoo and spray? Milking tools? Who would have thought cattle and horses would need Aspirin. Yup, there is aspirin for cattle and horses to reduce fever and relieve minor muscle aches & joint pain. There are injectable vitamin E, mineral oil, calcium gel vitamins, and other nutritional supplements. Who would have thought?

Fantacy of Lights

Yup, it’s the 10th annual display of holiday lights at the Vasona Lake County Park. It was the Big Event #2.

Fantasy of Lights presented by the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation and Silicon Valley Parks. Every year, they invite employees from the sponsors companies to enjoy the drive-through holiday lights display spectacular for free (during the designated dates). This year, a new addition to the display, an erupting Volcano with sound affects in the Dinosaur Den. Although it’s a drive-through event, but there are areas where you can stop and get off the cars to take pictures.

The event began at 6:30pm, and the park closed at 10pm. We were in line, in the car for a good 2 hours before we got to the entrance of the park. So for those of you who are interested to go with kids, be prepared. Food, snacks, drinks, and entertainments are recommended. The light show will run through 12/31/2008.

Needless to say, both Ashlyn and Alex were excited with Woo’s and Ah’s.
