Celebration

Just about 2 weeks ago, we celebrated our 5th anniversary. I picked Morton’s Steakhouse in the city. I like their steak? No, not because of the steak. I chose Morton over other places for their signature dessert - The Morton’s Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake.

We made the reservation for 7:15pm, but was able to move up to 6:00pm. When I made the reservation online, I put down “Anniversary Dinner” in the special request box. They decorated our table with confetti and special dinner menu.

As soon as we sat down, a lady came over with a digital camera, took a picture for us, which we picked out at the end of the dinner. Then, our waiter brought over the raw meet and lobster for a little show and tell (that’s their signature too), too bad I didn’t get a picture of him while he was showing and telling.

We started off with the Tuna Tartar. I LOVE Tuna Tartar. It’s average, I guess it’s the tomato took over the taste of tuna. Oh, get this, it’s exactly the same as the picture they posted on their website, usually not the case. Personally, I preferred the one from Michael Mina.

Dear hubby had the New York Strip Steak, and I ordered the Prime Rib, Bone-In Double Cut, which is available Friday & Saturday only. We also ordered two side dishes, Creamed Spinach and Sauteed Mushrooms. Boy, that was a lot of food. Dear hubby finished 80% of his steak and I finished 50% of mine. The portion of the side dishes was huge, it’s like endless bottom, we probably brought home 80% of each side dish. Oh, tips for you, when you dine at Morton’s, order exactly how you want your steak to be cooked. They don’t overcooked or undercooked the steak. You see my Prime Rib, that’s medium rare.

Highlight of the dinner — The Morton’s Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake. OH boy! I can’t tell you how good it was. If I could just have that for dinner, I would have order 4 or 5 of them. I supposed I could, but I was too embarrassed to do so. The sweetness was just right, temperature was perfect. Since dear hubby doesn’t have sweet tooth like I do, he took one bite, and the rest… Ha Ha! You’ve guessed it. I know their Souffle (Chocolate, Raspberry, Grand Marnier and Lemon) was really good too, but too bad we had no room for it.
